GISBOROUGH PRIORY
(ENGLISH HERITAGE)
Ruins of the twelfth century priory of Robert De Brus, an ancestor of Scottish King Robert the Bruce. Gisborough Priory (without the ‘u’) is situated in the town of Guisboorugh (with a ‘u’).

NEWPORT BRIDGE
England’s first vertical lifting bridge. Built in 1934 by the renowned Teesside civil engineering company of Dorman and Long.

TRANSPORTER BRIDGE
Built in 1911 by Cleveland Bridge and Engineering. It is a symbol of Middlesbrough and Teesside. The transporter mechanism carries cars and pedestrians across the River Tees, linking Middlesbrough to Port Clarence.
