Scottish Borders History
Our Scottish Borders pages focus on the parts of the Scottish Borders that are easily accessible from North East England. Like neighbouring Northumberland these regions share a history of Border Reiving and Border warfare with many castles and pele towers. In historic times much of what is now the Scottish Borders region fell within the Kingdom of Northumbria, with links to St Cuthbert. The region is famed for its beautiful hills, valleys and border abbeys.
